Scottish singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Griogair Labhruidh is a contemporary, experimental recording artist strongly rooted in tradition. Coming from a long line of Highland musicians, his music stems from a quest to express his insights about spirituality, belonging, nature, and creativity in a modern musical context, while paying homage to his Scottish heritage in his own personal way. Griogair is uniquely able to traverse largely untrodden ground combining Gaelic music with influences as eclectic as Funk, Soul, African music, Hip Hop, and Jazz.

Description

An award-winning Gaelic singer, internationally recognized for his voice, Griogair has worked with Emmy & BAFTA award-winning composer, Bear McCreary, featuring on the sixth season main title and soundtrack of the global series sensation Outlander. He has shared the stage with the stalwarts of Celtic tradition and maintained a strong presence in the world music scene as a featured member of the multi-platinum group, Afro Celt Sound System. In the fall of 2023, Griogair will release his long-awaited solo album “Solace (Sparks & Shadows)”, which will include performances by members of ACSS and features special guest artist appearances by actor, Alan Cumming, Scottish Folk singer, Julie Fowlis, and a collaboration with Grammy® Award winning group Arrested Development’s founder, rapper & lead singer, Speech. From the mountains of Glencoe and the shores of Skye, via America, Tibet, and West Africa, “Solace” is a collection of original songs which fuse indigenous Gaelic mythology with eclectic contemporary arrangements, to tell the tales of Griogair’s personal journey of artistic self-discovery.
