As an Ambassador of the Newberry Opera House
• I commit to volunteering during the 2023-2024 season.
• I verify that I have either attended volunteer training in person or completed virtual training in its entirety.
• I understand that I am required to provide my own transportation.
• I understand all procedures, especially the evacuation and shelter in place protocol.
• I understand that while on duty and/or wearing a Newberry Opera House badge I represent the
Newberry Opera House.
• I am committed to smiling, welcoming, and helping all Newberry Opera House patrons.
I understand that this form is not a binding contract, but a source of information and a set of guidelines for implementation of volunteer policies. I understand that the Newberry Opera House Foundation can unilaterally rescind, modify, or make exceptions to any of these policies, or adopt new policies, at any time.
I understand that I am providing volunteer services and that volunteer in no way implies an
employment relationship. Accordingly, my volunteering status may be terminated at any time, by me or by the Newberry Opera House Foundation with or without notice and with or without cause.
I understand and agree that the Newberry Opera House is a non-profit organization, and I, as evidenced by the contribution of my time and efforts, desire to help the Newberry Opera House achieve its mission. It is for that reason that I do hereby intentionally waive, release and forever discharge, and shall fully and on demand indemnify and hold Newberry Opera House harmless from, any and all, claims, liability, damages, and other costs, which I may now or hereafter have against Newberry Opera House or which is incurred by Newberry Opera House on account of any matter associated in any way with the my service at Newberry Opera House.
I understand that each ambassador must act in all matters in a manner that will safeguard the
reputation and integrity of the Foundation and will preserve and strengthen public confidence in the Foundation’s activities.
I understand that as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, The Newberry Opera House cannot anddoes not support or endorse a political candidate or a particular political party.
I understand and agree that no volunteer may consume or possess alcohol, or use, possess, sell, purchase, or transfer illegal drugs at any time while on the Foundation’s premises or while using the Foundation’s vehicles or equipment, or at any location during work time.
No volunteer may report to work with illegal drugs (or their metabolites) or alcohol in his/her bodily system.
I understand that as a volunteer, I am a representative of the Newberry Opera House Foundation when posting online and speaking with guests, friends, and the public. I agree to express only my person opinions and to never represent myself as a spokesperson for the Foundation. I agree to always make it clear that I am not speaking on behalf of the Foundation when the posts I make relate to the work I do at the Opera House.
I understand that Ambassadors should not speak to the media on the Foundation’s behalf and that all media inquiries should be directed to the Executive Director.
I understand that the Newberry Opera House makes every effort to comply with all State and Federal regulations to ensure a performance venue which is safe, comfortable, and secure.
Purchasing a ticket, volunteering, or attending a performance at the Newberry Opera House includes inherent risks.
As a result, I AGREE to INDEMNIFY and HOLD HARMLESS the Newberry Opera House, The
Newberry Opera House Foundation, City of Newberry, employees, volunteers, officials, agents, assigns and related affiliates for this event/program/activity (herein referred to as ‘event’) from all claims, demands, lawsuits, costs and attorney’s fees arising out of participation in this event. I understand and acknowledge that I have access to event location with right and obligation to
inspect prior to each event and agree to participate in the ‘as is’ condition. If I find a hazard or identify that any area is unsafe, I have the right to choose not to participate and agree to notify the Newberry Opera House Management immediately. The Newberry Opera House reserves the right to inspect
and abate any hazard timely and within reasonable means.
