The Newberry Opera House invites community members to join its largest and most essential team by becoming a volunteer for the upcoming season. With more than one hundred active participants donating thousands of hours annually, these dedicated individuals are vital to the mission of enhancing the cultural and economic development of Newberry County and the Midlands. Volunteers play a crucial role in the guest experience, serving as the welcoming face of the historic venue while supporting a wide array of performances and educational programs. The organization seeks enthusiastic and proactive individuals who are at least fifteen years of age and possess a genuine love for the performing arts and community service.
Prospective volunteers can look forward to a rewarding experience that requires only a minimal commitment of two service dates per month. All show night positions require the ability to stand for long periods, and those interested in concessions must complete specialized alcohol server training to ensure safety and professional standards. To maintain a secure environment for all patrons, every applicant must pass a SLED background check and attend an annual training session.
The orientation for the 2026 through 2027 season is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12 pm to 1 pm at the Firehouse Conference Center located at 1227 McKibben Street in Newberry.
