The Spinners are one of the most celebrated and influential groups in classic soul music, with a career that spans more than six decades and a catalog that remains timeless. Emerging from Detroit in the 1950s and later becoming defining voices of the Sound of Philadelphia, the group reached extraordinary heights in the 1970s with producer Thom Bell, delivering emotionally rich harmonies and unforgettable hits that explored love, heartbreak, and joy. Songs like I’ll Be Around, Could It Be I’m Falling in Love, Then Came You, and The Rubberband Man became staples across pop, R and B, and adult contemporary radio, earning the group numerous gold and platinum albums, Grammy nominations, and worldwide acclaim.

Before their Philadelphia era, The Spinners honed their craft at Motown after early success on Tri Phi Records, benefiting from the label’s legendary artist development program and scoring an early breakthrough with It’s a Shame, written and produced by Stevie Wonder. Through lineup changes and evolving musical styles, including a successful pivot into disco in the late 1970s, the group continued to produce chart topping music and remain a powerful live act. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023, The Spinners’ legacy lives on through a new generation of performers who honor the group’s signature choreography, soaring harmonies, and enduring spirit, continuing to captivate audiences around the world.
