The Artimus Pyle Band serves as the ultimate tribute to the legacy of Ronnie Van Zant and the classic Lynyrd Skynyrd sound, led by legendary drummer and 2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Artimus Pyle. As the last surviving member of the band’s iconic 1970s lineup, Pyle brings a profound level of authenticity to every performance, recreating the powerful double bass drumming that helped define Southern rock. The current high energy lineup features a collective of seasoned musicians including Barry Lee Harwood of the Rossington Collins Band, Shannon Wickline from the Charlie Daniels Band, and guitarist Scott Raines. Together, they perform the band’s catalog with a deep respect for the original arrangements, ensuring that the spirit of Ronnie Van Zant’s vision continues to resonate with fans across the globe.
The band recently expanded their reach with the 2024 album Anthems, a collaborative project that pairs the group with some of the biggest names in music to honor the Skynyrd songbook. This 13 track collection features a star studded list of guests, including Dolly Parton on a monumental version of Free Bird, Sammy Hagar on Simple Man, and Ronnie Dunn on Sweet Home Alabama. The project even features the iconic slide guitar of the late Gary Rossington, marking one of his final recordings. In addition to their own releases, the group was featured on Dolly Parton’s Rockstar album and provided the soundtrack for the 2020 film Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash. Whether through their studio projects or their relentless touring schedule, the Artimus Pyle Band remains the definitive torchbearer for the most celebrated era of Southern rock history.
