The South Carolina Music Teachers Association is proud to present an extraordinary evening of classical music featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Andrew Cooperstock as the guest artist for the annual SCMTA Conference Artist Concert. An esteemed Steinway Artist and recent inductee into the Steinway Piano Music Teachers Hall of Fame, Cooperstock has performed across six continents and at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. A graduate of Juilliard with deep roots in South Carolina, having studied piano in Rock Hill and attended the South Carolina Governor’s School, Cooperstock brings a masterful technique and an expressive depth to the stage. His celebrated career includes premiering works by legendary American composers like Aaron Copland and Lowell Liebermann, making this concert a spectacular showcase of world class artistry.
In addition to his towering reputation as a soloist, Cooperstock is celebrated as a premier chamber musician and a dedicated global educator. As a founding member of the award winning duo Opus Two with violinist William Terwilliger, he has championed American music, with their highly praised recordings of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim earning rave reviews from Gramophone and American Record Guide. Currently a Professor of Piano at the University of Colorado Boulder and Director of Global Seminar: Chamber Music France, Cooperstock’s appearance at this conference concert represents a wonderful homecoming for the artist.
