Black Violin, the Grammy-nominated classical-meets-hip-hop duo composed of violist and vocalist Wil Baptiste and violinist Kev Marcus, has spent two decades challenging conventions and rewriting the rules of modern music. On their sixth studio album, Full Circle, the childhood friends from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, have crafted their most rich and varied collection to date by bringing their entire live band into the studio to capture their signature “chaotic beauty.” The project flawlessly fuses aggressive, hard-hitting boom-bap rhythms with lush, cinematic orchestration and lyrics filled with hope and persistence. More than just a musical group, Black Violin has turned their genre-bending artistry into a massive movement, inspiring over 100,000 students annually through extensive community outreach and the Black Violin Foundation, which provides young people with access to high-quality music programs.
Joining them on The Be Free Tour is Braxton Cook, an exceptionally talented vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has made a career of beautifully blurring the lines between jazz and contemporary R&B. His latest breakthrough album, Not Everyone Can Go, is a deeply reflective and collaborative project that explores personal transitions, the rediscovery of romance, and the strength found in embracing change. Marked by bright, sun-drenched melodies, slow-burning late nineties R&B grooves, and fluid instrumental improvisations, Cook’s music serves as a soundtrack for self-work and gratitude. Together, these visionary artists bring an electric, boundary-pushing energy to the stage, combining masterful instrumentation with honest storytelling to remind audiences of the unifying power of live music.
