In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the 246th Army Band brings a proud tradition of service and musical excellence to the stage. Formed in 1939 and rooted in the 178th Field Artillery, the band served in multiple World War II campaigns and today stands as the premier musical ensemble of the South Carolina Army National Guard, based at McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Eastover. Comprised of highly skilled soldier musicians, the unit presents a wide range of performance groups including a ceremonial marching band, jazz ensemble, rock band, brass quintet, and woodwind group, reflecting the depth and versatility of military music.

As ambassadors of the National Guard, the 246th Army Band performs throughout South Carolina at military ceremonies, civic events, and community celebrations, strengthening the connection between citizens and those who serve. Their popular summer concert series and special commemorative performances honor the nation’s history while delivering dynamic programming that spans traditional patriotic favorites to contemporary selections, inspiring audiences through a shared spirit of pride and service.
