Pause for Intermission, Act 2 is Coming Soon!
We never dreamed we would be in this position, but we have temporarily suspended our season due to the Coronavirus. Please know that our patrons and the artists who perform here bring us so much joy, and we are missing you terribly. While this intermission is an unprecedented one, our staff and Board are committed to bringing back the performances you love as soon as it is safe to do so. We are busy rescheduling events, planning next year’s schedule, caring for our beautiful facility, and we can’t wait to raise the curtain on Act 2! We are filled with excitement as two of our favorite giving days are joining forces this year.
Midlands Gives and Giving Tuesday will be held simultaneously on Tuesday, May 5, 2020—giving us all the opportunity to go ALL IN with our support of the Newberry Opera House.

Midlands Gives, which is held annually the first Tuesday in May, is an 18-hour online giving event sponsored by Central Carolina Community Foundation that brings the region together as one, raising money and awareness for local nonprofits in 11 Midlands counties.
Giving Tuesday Now is a global day of giving and unity created as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
With hopeful hearts, we have set an ambitious goal of $50,000 for the day.
We know that the climate for giving has changed and there are great needs all around us, but we hope that you will still be able to support us. A strong, active Opera House has been crucial for the economic health of our community and will be vital for economic recovery once this crisis has passed.
Here’s how you can be a part of the #MidlandsGives and #GivingTuesdayNow movement:
• To participate through #MidlandsGives on Tuesday, May 5, go online from 6:00 A.M. to 11:59 P.M. by logging on to MidlandsGives.org/NewberryOperaHouse.

As we yearn for assurance and human connection, the importance of community and generosity are more important than ever. The Arts can serve as a much-needed distraction and will help to bring us together following our isolation. Our hope is that your participation in Midlands Gives and/or Giving Tuesday Now will demonstrate the power of generosity to heal a fractured world and that while the theatre is dark, we remain the light, a beacon of hope that with your help will return to raise the curtain.
Your help is needed to preserve this beautiful historic theater because a strong, active Opera House has been crucial for the economic health of the community and will be vital for economic recovery once this crisis has passed. THE SHOW WILL GO ON!
