Come see where Bach meets Bon Jovi, and embark on a musical journey with the Dallas String Quartet, an innovative ensemble that pushes the boundaries of Classical music in a Bridgerton-inspired style. In addition to performing internationally, DSQ has played “at home” for Presidents Obama and Bush, the College Football Playoff, NBA, and NFL organizations. DSQ has sold out concert venues like the the House of Blues and symphony halls. They’ve also played alongside Josh Groban, Chicago, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This dynamic quartet combines Classical artistry with Pop, House of Blues and elements and is said to redefine the possibilities of string quartet performance.
Dallas String Quartet, also referred to as DSQ or DSQ Electric, is a #2 Billboard charting American Classical Crossover ensemble founded in 2007 by composer and violist Ion Zanca. A fusion of Contemporary Classical and Pop music, DSQ is referred to as “Bach meets Bon Jovi” and is compared to artists like Lindsey Stirling, Vitamin String Quartet, Brooklyn Duo and 2Cellos.
They use both traditional and electric strings performing as a quartet with the full accompaniment of drums and guitar and are known for their eclectic renditions of everything from Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to Shawn Mendes to Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” to their collaboration, “You Are The Reason,” with The Piano Guys. DSQ has performed for Presidents Obama and Bush, with superstars like Ed Sheeran, Luke Combs and Ashley McBryde, at the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards), for NBA and NFL organizations and their cover of Katy Perry’s “Firework” was featured on the most recent season of American Idol. Brands like Cartier, Delta, LinkedIn and more seek out the one-of-a-kind quartet, as did Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton who requested DSQ as the entertainment for their July 2021 wedding. In Oct. 2021, their album “Love Always” debuted at #2 on the Billboard Chart (in both Classical Crossover Albums and Classical Albums). DSQ is also featured on the 2023 GRAMMY-nominated album, “The Passenger” by Cheryl B. Engelhardt. The core group is composed of violist Ion Zanca, violinists Valory Hight and Melissa Priller, and bassist Young Heo.
