Silent Auction Print XCV11 If you would like to make a bid on this print send us
an online bid by e-mail. All
online bids will be acknowledged. In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of John James Audubon's birth, the National Audubon Society and Abbeville Press reprinted the entire edition of John James Audubon's BIRDS OF AMERICA. Originally printed in 1838, the four-volume set included 435 color plates of life-size engravings (26 1/2" x 39 1/2") of over 1,100 birds. Only once before has a full-sized Facsimile Edition been attempted in the past 160 years and it, too commands many times its original price. The current set was produced by the most advanced techniques in the art of papermaking, color printing, and fine binding, and the edition was strictly limited to 350 sets worldwide. The paper is elegantly watermarked along the lengthwise edge with the insignia and names of the Audubon Society and Abbeville Press. Printed on specially milled acid-free paper in up to 13 colors, each print is a work of art.
